For Speedgoat 5 owners. I'be read mixed reviews about the speedgoat 5. Some of them give the shoe a really good report and others not so much. However, all of them coincide on saying that the upper is a bit stretchy. For the bad reviews that is a deal breaker since they cannot get a good lockdown, and for the good reviews that is not an issue

After having bad experiences with hoka before because of the too narrow toe box ( Carbon X stepping on the sidewall of the foam) and the arch problem ( Bondi 6 wide) I ordered the Speedgoat 5. I was looking for a nice cushioned allrounder for daily training and racing a trail half in spring and my first ultra in fall.
The Salomon Ultra Glide and the Hoka Speedgoat are arguably the two best regarded mixed terrain trail runners on the market today. Salomon, the dominant trail shoe brand of the past decade, introduced the Ultra Glide in 2021 to compete with the highly popular Hoka Speedgoat. Hoka launched the Speedgoat 5 last month.
